Latest NewsFriday, February 01, 2008Sciatica and your pain The sciatic nerve pain is caused by the pressing of the nerve from a bulging disc. This means that a disc has protruded from its normal position in the vertebral column and is pinching the sciatic nerve. The degree of pain is generally high. If the nerve is not being directly pinched and there is swelling around the nerve the pain is generally a dull ache. People who have experienced sciatic nerve pain know that it can be a pain in the backside, literally. It is annoying, excruciating, debilitating. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that saying in bed for weeks may be a waste of time for people who suffer from sciatica, the study found that treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs coupled with a decrease in activity may be just as effective, so doctors say. I do not know what you think but who can afford to stay in bed for a couple of weeks? The sciatic nerve runs from the lower back in the buttock area down the back of the leg and into the toes. When it is at its worst, there's usually a burning or electrical-type pain, which can be accompanied by tingling or numbness in the leg or foot. People notice the onset of back pain and then within a day or two, it spreads to the leg. Try swinging your leg out of the car or putting your foot into your undies, how does that feel? Sciatica generally starts in L4, L5 or S1 and then radiates down the backside and then onto the legs. Well a tens machine is what you need. Researches have proven that the use of TENS is definitely a sure way to stop the pain and the suffering and we have many customers who have purchased a tens machine from us and have given it a tick of approval.
