Carpal tunnel syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a painful syndrome of the hand caused by pressure on the main nerve that runs through the wrist.

Symptoms include numbness, pins and needles, and pain.

Anyone who uses the hand on a repetitive basis will at some stage suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Treatment can include cortisone injections and surgery.

The Carpal Tunnel is a narrow passageway in the wrist that opens into the hand. It is surrounded by the bones of the wrist and the transverse carpal ligament.

The median nerve runs through the carpal tunnel and gives sensation to the thumb, forefinger, middle finger and half of the ring finger.

Flexor tendons also run through the carpal tunnel into the hand. These tendons are covered by a smooth membrane called tenosynovium and allow hand movement.

Any thickening from inflamed tendons or other causes of swelling can reduce the amount of space inside the carpal tunnel. If left unchecked, the median nerve is squashed against the transverse carpal ligament until the nerve cannot function properly. Numbness and pain are the result.

One or both hands can be affected.

The muscles of the thumb, called the thenar muscles, are also serviced by the median nerve.

A person with advanced carpal tunnel syndrome may find they cannot properly use or move their thumb anymore, and may experience difficulties when trying to grasp objects.

The little finger and half of the ring finger are unaffected as these are controlled by the Ulnar Nerve.

Well we have had another happy customer just yesterday.

We were approached by a guy who is an abbitoir worker with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Fancy having CTS if you swing a knife for a living.

His hands were continually numb and took 2 hours every morning to get the blood flow and finger movement.

He asked us did the TENS help with his condition and to his surprise after 10 minutes of placing the electrodes in the palm and the wrist his hand was completely free of pain and the hand was straight for the first time in two years.

Now this guy lives on the Granite belt and if you get cold in winter go up to Stanthorpe and see what it is like especially if you have pain.

Anyway he purchased the machine and for his investment of $350.00 (he bought the TENS/EMS) his wife also used the machine for her migraine.

Just goes to prove folks many people have cancelled their surgery for various problems after using the TENS.

Another great story and more info that the TENS does work.
